Internet Definitions
Browser History is a record of every visited web site.
Browser Cache is a copy of each visited web page that is filed on your computer.
Browser Cookies are files saved on your hard drive so you can be identified each time you visit. For example, if you shop online and create a login name, that data is stored on your computer so each time you re-visit, the website knows you have visited before.
Web Form Data is a form that you fill out using your web browser. When you type a word to search on the internet, the text is saved so you do not have to re-type it later. This is dangerous because if you type “domestic violence” in a search engine field, your abuser may be able to see that text later. This feature can be changed so the text is not saved.
If an abuser has access to your email account, he or she may be able to read your incoming and outgoing mail. If you believe your account is secure, make sure you select a password he or she will not be able to guess.
If an abuser sends you threatening or harassing email messages, you should print them and save them as evidence of the abuse. Additionally, the messages may constitute a federal offense.

Warning
Even if you take these cautionary steps, your abuser may be able to discover your online activities. To ensure that your online activities are not discovered by your abuser, you must use a computer that your abuser cannot access.
